Club: Kro-Flite model Mid Mashie "Gold Medal" series 3 iron
Maker: A.G. Spalding & Brothers, Dysart (Scotland).
Year: c.1920s
Shaft: Original shaft, with slight bow (inline with the face) firmly fitted to hosel. No splits or cracks visible. New suede 14.5" grip. Swing weight C7-C8.
Length: 37.75"
Loft: 30 degrees
Condition: Good for age, with some small dents to the back of the hosel, and a nick on the leading edge of sole. Clear "Kro-Flite" and Crow cleek mark on reverse, with four line face markings. Stamped on reverse "Gold Medal"

Founded in 1878 at Rockford, Illinois, USA, this sporting goods company first began importing golf clubs into the United States, from Scotland in around 1893. The company later produced its own golf equipment from factories in London, and Dysart in Fife, Scotland. Spalding & Brothers were the first manufacturer to introduce drop-forging into England, and these irons were stamped with the ‘Hammer’ brand. Early wooden clubs made by the firm were either stamped simply with the company name, or the ‘Baseball’ trademark, a reference to their American sporting goods heritage.
