Braid was a five times Open Championship winner (and Professional at Walton Heath Golf Club 1904-50), whose endorsment and name stamped on any club of the day guaranteed a marketing success. The retailers stamp A.Tooley & Sons, 40 Fetters Lane, London is clearly stamped on the reverse. Arthur Tooley was a professional golfer who in the 1920s expanded his clubmaking business in London, and patented many designs of his own. Tooley's iron clubs were made for him by William Gibson of Kinghorn, which included Tooley's unusual and distinctive shaped 'Suitall' putter.
