Golf Artwork: D Faure (French School) "THE SABBATH BREAKERS"

Framed oil on board signed and dated by the artist 1927.

Image size 15.25" x 22.75"   set in a dark/black 3" frame with gold inner boarder.

Painted from the original by John Dollman in 1896 showing John Henrie and Pat Rogie being discovered playing golf on The Sabbath at Leith Links in 1592 - they were subsequently prosecuted for the their violation.

Good condition with no damage to board, but a couple of ares of 'grazing' to paint (red breeches and blue jacket). Painting would benefit from a clean, as some areas have surface dirt/grime accumulated over time. Original frame in good condition with a few small dents/scratches which don't however detract from the painting.
