Faure 'The Sabbath Breakers' Oil on board 1927 <p><strong>Golf Artwork:</strong> D Faure (French School) \"THE SABBATH BREAKERS\"</p><p>Framed oil on board signed and dated by the artist 1927.</p><p>Image size 15.25\" x 22.75\"   set in a dark/black 3\" frame with gold inner boarder.</p><p>Painted from the original by John Dollman in 1896 showing John Henrie and Pat Rogie being discovered playing golf on The Sabbath at Leith Links in 1592 - they were subsequently prosecuted for the their violation.</p><p>Good condition with no damage to board, but a couple of ares of \'grazing\' to paint (red breeches and blue jacket). Painting would benefit from a clean, as some areas have surface dirt/grime accumulated over time. Original frame in good condition with a few small dents/scratches which don\'t however detract from the painting.</p><p>Note:  D Faure comes from a long line of French artists and several works by the family are recorded in the Art Index.</p>
