Fifth-size miniature driver on oak business card holder.

This is a faithful miniature replica of a long-nosed W.Dunn Play Club c.1870.

It is hand-made by the Davies family of Westward Ho!, who through a continuous line of clubmaking apprentices, can trace their golfing heritage back to the early Scottish feather ball and golf club makers. The miniature is made using the same traditional methods and materials employed in full-size club of this era.

The wooden head is made of beech, and ‘spliced’ to a hickory shaft. The joint is then bound with pitched twine. A piece of rams horn is inserted into the sole of the club to protect the wood from splitting when striking the ground. The club is brought to the correct weight by pouring molten lead into a cavity carved into the back of the head.

The shaft is gripped with fine calfskin and bound with twine.

Dimensions:
