Two Club Miniature Stand

- Description
This stand is available in one (£110), two, and three (£160) club options.
These are faithful miniature replicas of long-nosed golf clubs. They are:
Play Club by W.Dunn c.1870
Putter by H.Philp c.1840
They are hand-made by the Davies family of Westward Ho!, who through a continuous line of clubmaking apprentices, can trace their golfing heritage back to the early Scottish feather ball and golf club makers. The miniatures are made using the same traditional methods and materials employed in full-size clubs of this era.
The wooden heads are made of beech, and ‘spliced’ to hickory shafts. The joints are then bound with pitched twine. A piece of rams horn is inserted into the sole of the club to protect the wood from splitting when striking the ground. Each club is brought to the correct weight by pouring molten lead into a cavity carved into the back of the head.
The shaft is gripped with fine calfskin and bound with twine.
